Upcoming Virtual Events

The Sector Pandemic Planning Initiative (SPPI) launched a webinar series titled, “Resilience, Adaptation, and Reopening” on August 13, 2020. This series is designed to help meet the unique needs of the developmental services sector as we enter the next stage of the COVID-19 pandemic. It will cover topics related to adapting and realigning our work to shifting needs and reopening safely in a dynamic environment.

The next webinar will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

As the COVID-19 vaccine distribution continues in the developmental services sector and reopening of the province moves into Step 2 and 3, Rapid Antigen Testing (Point-of-Care Screening) for COVID-19 may become an important topic of conversation within your organizations.

Webinar panelists will touch on methods of antigen screening, resources, partnerships, staff/union response, biohazard waste management, and false positives, as well as the clinical aspects of rapid testing. Representatives from the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) will address how to onboard and submit an expression of interest.

Please join us as we discuss important points to consider in the Rapid Antigen Testing process.  Register here:

Current Research

On behalf of the PN Vaccination Preparedness Sub-Committee:

As you recall Dr Yona Lunsky together with folks at the Women’s College Hospital and research conducted an important survey with our direct support professionals some months ago as the vaccines were becoming more available. We and they want to learn about the rate of interest or hesitancy among our employees toward receiving the vaccine.

The survey is also helpful information for the Vaccine Distribution Education committee from the Provincial Network on Developmental Services as they consider how and where to provide valuable education to support employees as they decide toward receiving the vaccines.

Please use the attached letter as a template to invite your employees to participate in the survey – the survey link is within the attached letter template. Click here.
